Kim Kardashian is best known for being part of the reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians. On the show, which she stars with her two sisters, Khloe and Kourtney, she's known for being the single sister. All that has changed now and she's been given something that's going to make it very difficult to "keep up with" her...a 20.5 carat engagement ring from boyfriend and New Jersey Nets forward, Kris Humphries! Though the couple has only been together for about 6 months, Humphries popped the question to Kardashian in her Beverly Hills mansion about a week ago. "I walked into my bedroom and there he was. 'Will you marry me?' was spelled out in rose petals," Kardashian tells People Magazine.
Humphries didn't do it empty-handed, either. Far from it! Yes, he popped the question with a 20.5 carat diamonds worth over $2 million dollars! That's almost half of what her house is worth! (And weighs about as much as a deck and a half of cards, according to NY Daily News.)
Humphries designed with jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, a longtime Kardashian friend, who has not only decked Kim in her gorgeous jewels for events like the Emmy Awards, but has also created engagement rings for stars like Beyoncé. “I just knew I wanted it to be big!” Humphries stated. Well, he sure got what he asked for!
“It’s the most beautiful thing I have ever seen,” says Kardashian, of the ring. “It’s perfect.”
The 16.5 carat emerald cut center stone is flanked by a pair of 2 carat trapezoids, for a total weight of 20.5 carats!
Now that's what we call "putting a ring on it"! There has been no word on the wedding date yet, but whenever it is, you can be sure it'll be as big a spectacle as her ring...if not bigger!
What do you think of am engagement ring this large? Of course, it would great to sell, but do you think it's practical? Is there a point at which you would advise someone intending to propose to not go any bigger in carat size? Let us know; we want to hear from you!
