Red Carpet Jeweler: Leave it to the Royals!

by
Prince William already gave Kate Middleton his mother's diamond sapphire engagement ring and now he's bestowed upon his new bride another precious jewelry gift from his late mother, Princess Diana: her diamond and sapphire earrings.

"Now that they're married, William wanted her to have some of his mother's favorite pieces," an insider tells The Daily Mail.

The Duchess even gave the earrings her updated and personalized them by having the studs remodeled into drop earrings.

Princess Diana's engagement ring and earrings aren't the only well known pieces of sapphire jewelry. Does anyone remember the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace from the movie Titanic?

While not a piece of Royal jewelry, the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace became instantly popular when Titanic came out. Though it was created for the movie, it is believed to have been inspired by a necklace from RMS Titanic survivor Kate Florence Phillips.

Since the Royal Wedding, have you seen any increased demand for sapphire and diamond jewelry? Let us know; we love hearing from our readers!
