I disagree with INSTORE Mag's idea of single media advertising idea.

I have to disagree. Instore Magazine publishes an email every day with their tips for that day. In today's tip, July 7, 2010 they say "Dominating a single medium, whether it's print, radio, telemarketing or direct mail, can be much more powerful than spreading your message thinly across several different media. This is especially true if you have a very targeted consumer base."

I've learned that concepts of internet marketing are not new, in fact the same marketing ideas for the internet have been around for centuries and used in all other advertising methods. However, when we use these techniques on the internet we can measure response rates in a matter of days rather than the previous months or years that you had to wait.

Anyway, my feeling is this email from Instore Magazine is totally wrong. You really ...

Lesson 2 Vocab 48 - Social Media

Like Search Engine Marketing, the phrase "Social Media" is an all inclusive term referring to any membership website. A membership website is one that gives you the ability to join, create a profile, and directly interact with other website members and friends of yours.

Generic examples of Social Media websites are Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Classmates, StumbleUpon and YouTube. There are thousands of others.

Some jewelry specific Social Media websites include Polygon and Instore Magazine.

I urge you to get involved with at least one social media website. You should start with the same one most of your customers are using. You should eventually join another after you have learned some online marketing skills specific to social media.

If you just put up a website and really need to figure out what to do, and what search engine optimization, and search engine marketing is all about, then this course is for you.
