Cairo GA SERP Review

by
Cairo GA SERP Review daily-golden-nugget-1514-80
Welcome to a somewhat unusual Friday review. Every Friday, I usually look for a website that's a bit of a fixer-upper and I suggest how to make it better. This week, as usual, I opened my Google Chrome browser in incognito mode and ran a search for "jewelry stores in Cairo GA."

There are certain search phrases that trigger specific search results formats, and normally when you search for a "jewelers in _____" or "jewelry stores in ____" Google activates the local results version of the SERP, but today it didn't.

Instead, this is what I saw:

Understanding Uptime Availability and How Google Reports It

Understanding Uptime Availability and How Google Reports It 1092-daily-golden-nugget-1066
According to Wikipedia, uptime "is a measure of the time a machine, typically a computer, has been working and available."

Interestingly enough, the Wikipedia page only explains Uptime in relation to the physical computer servers that run just about everything in the world now, but not about websites.

Last week I mentioned uptime in my Nugget about VIEW FULL GOLD NUGGET

Why Did Organic Traffic Drop After Launching A New Site? 3941-daily-golden-nugget-1064
The Scenario:

The day has finally come when you've decided to upgrade your website to the latest and greatest content management system and website design. It's a big decision to make that leap considering how much time it will take and the cost to do it. It might be months before the new site is live.

You're going to have a lot of things to worry about during the process of setting up the new site. Difficult design issues, photography concerns, ...

Older, Wiser, Faster Indexed Websites

by
Time and time again, we see new jewelry store websites with brand new domain names launched, then fail miserably.

Brand new websites have a really difficult time getting indexed in the search engines. If no one is linking to the new site, Google, Bing, and Yahoo simply can't find it. There needs to be at least one link from some other reputable website before the engines will find the new site.

It might take 30 days before your brand new jewelry store website shows up in the search results. Even after the first 30 days, you still might not see your entire website in the search results. It will eventually get there but it might take months.

During this initial time, you might also notice that your blog entries also have a delay at getting into the search results.

As it turns out, Google tracks the longevity of a...

How Deep is Your Tree?

by
How closely do you look at the address of the websites you visit?

Some websites are built with sloppy content management systems that have long strings of variables like this EXAMPLE 1:
www.Jewelrystore.com/page.html?id=25&code=1234&var=5

Some websites are built with more appealing website addresses like this EXAMPLE 2:
www.Jewelrystore.com/12345/67890/page.html

And some websites are built with fully readable website addresses like this EXAMPLE 3:
www.Jewelrystore.com/online-catalog/diamond-jewelry.html

It actually doesn't matter how your website addresses are structured. You could have a really long website address like this EXAMPLE 4:
www.Jewelrystore.com/jewelry-catalog/diamo...
