Keywords Don't Belong In Your Meta Descriptions #TBT

by
Keywords Dont Belong In Your Meta Descriptions TBT daily-golden-nugget-1474-30
In today's #ThrowbackThursday, I'm jumping back to January 2012 to my topic of avoiding keyword stuffing in meta descriptions.

What Are They?

The meta descriptions are the approximately 150 character descriptions you see in the search engine results pages. What you put in the meta descriptions does not count towards your search engine optimization; rather, it's there simply to exp...

Keywords and Content: Working Together to Establish Expertise in a Topic daily-golden-nugget-1461-23
Last month, I spent a lot of time analyzing the keyword data I collected during the 2015 holiday season. The information that surfaced was just the tip of the iceberg that I had, but it would take months to go through and write about it all, so I limited my analysis to the list this list:

The First Place #FridayFlopFix Review

by
The First Place FridayFlopFix Review daily-golden-nugget-1440-32
This is the #FridayFlopFix edition of the Daily Golden Nugget. Each week I seek out a website that needs some help, and I make improvement suggestions. Most of the time, I simply do a random Google search for a jewelry store, sometimes I come across a store randomly during work, and sometimes one of my friends sends me a website that perplexes them.

Last Friday night, my dear friend Cindy Edelstein sent me an email w...

Summerlin Jewelers Website Re-Review

by
Summerlin Jewelers Website Re-Review daily-golden-nugget-1265-51
This is the Friday website review edition of the Daily Golden Nugget. Usually I choose a random city around the U.S. to find a retail jeweler, and this week, in honor of the Las Vegas jewelry shows, I'll search around Las Vegas, Nevada.

The following is a screen grab when I searched for "jewelers in las vegas." The top listed store is The Jewelers of Las Vegas. They have updated their website since I last re...

Hidden Text On Your Website Can Sometimes Be Used For Good

Hidden Text On Your Website Can Sometimes Be Used For Good daily-golden-nugget-1209-99
In this edition of #ThrowbackThursday, I'm jumping back to May 2, 2011 the Daily Golden Nugget on hidden text on a web page that is not considered Black Hat SEO.

I haven't mentioned Black Hat SEO in a while, so let me briefly explain what that is. Google ranking algorithm was less complicated prior to 2012, and many people figured out simple ways to exploit that simplicit...

How Can I Get Number 1 Ranking on Google?

by
How Can I Get Number 1 Ranking on Google? daily-golden-nugget-1174-76
It astounds me that people still offer first place Google ranking service. Every day I still receive at least one spam email which offers me to get first place ranking on Google if I hire them to improve the SEO of any of the domain names I manage.

I started writing these Daily Golden Nuggets more than four years ago and even before then, Google posted warnings saying how first place ranking could not be achieved by simply hiring someone. Their warning is VIEW FULL GOLD NUGGET

Don't count keywords anymore...

by
Dont count keywords anymore... 1629-daily-golden-nugget-984

In my Nugget yesterday, I explained how you need to consider the longterm value of your SEO and SEM efforts to the overall process of building your brand.

That Nugget directly relates to today's topic of Keywords, specifically keyword density.

In yesterday's Nugget I explained how Google will penalize you if you try to game their search results. They are pretty strict about that now since working so hard to improve the w...

Your Engagement Ring Store is Not a Wedding Ring Shop

by
We've covered a few different topics about meta descriptions and meta keywords over the past few days. Today we'll continue with some ideas how to avoid keyword stuffing.

Month after month our own compiled research always shows these keyword phrases among the most frequent searched:

jewelry store
jewelry stores
engagement ring stores
wedding ring stores

Basic SEO strategies dictate that you must include the words jewelry, stores, engagement, wedding, and ring on your website if you want to be found. But don't over use the words; otherwise you might look like a spammer. An overused keyword is one that appears unnecessarily on the page. Imagine the English language without pronouns; how annoying would it be to keep repeating someone proper name over and over again while talking to them? If you can imagine ...

Black Hat SEO: Engagement Ring Keyword Stuffing Example

by
Today, and for the rest of the week, we are continuing our topic of Black Hat SEO tactics that you should NOT be doing on your website. Black Hat SEO refers to unethical technology strategies or website content that will negatively affect your SERP ranking or will get your website banned from search engines.

Today we are explaining Keyword Stuffing and we'll give you an example of it. But first, let's give you a little background information for the benefit of website beginners out there, or to refresh your memory.

In order to have a web page appear in the SERP for a keyword, you need to use that keyword on your page. If you want your website to appear for the phrase "champagne diamonds," you will need to use that phrase on your website.

The question you should ask yourself is how many times the phrase "champagne ...

It's In the Clouds

by
One of the well known "no no's" of website search engine optimization is something called Keyword Stuffing.

Old search engines used to rank a website by the amount of times you had a phrase listed on the page. If you wanted to be listed for the old "right hand rings" you simply needed to use the phrase "right hand rings" on the page more times than your competitor.

The phrase "right hand rings" is difficult to say over and over, and that's why it's such a good example to today's Daily Golden Nugget, so let's continue with it.

The Diamond Promotion Service started using the phrase Right Hand Ring in 2005, so let's imagine it's 2005 and you are trying to sell to women that want to buy themselves an anytime gift. The common SEO strategy of that time was simply to bloat a web page with your target phrase more times tha...
